Aimee Mitchell, MSW, LiCSW
Aimee has spent her career grounded in the values of justice, equity and healing. She is dedicated to transforming social service processes for the betterment of both those served and those providing service. As a clinical social worker, a guardian, a foster parent and an adoptive parent, these identities have provided critical vantage points to understand the mis-steps.
The settings in which Aimee has worked, range from in-patient psychiatric work with children and adolescents, prenatal to five systems of care, child welfare, refugee resettlement, and state government. These have provided insight into the unintended consequences of policies and practices, but also the collision of these on one another when they lose sight of who they are intended to serve.
Due to her deep capacity to reflect and understand different perspectives, and having occupied different roles in the social service field, Aimee is able to navigate seemingly contradictory situations with a depth of humanity and humility.
She has a unique ability to take big multifaceted deeply complex problems and dissolve it into several solvable and manageable problems that invite people into building the solutions.
There are no shortcuts in the work Aimee does, she is always inclusive and always bringing people along. She is able to provide spaces which embraces people's strengths and challenges in a way that uplifts the entirety of who they are. Transforming what people thought of as deficits, to understanding them as strengths.
