An Innovative Home Share Design
What happens when we combine the housing challenge, the workforce crisis, and thousands of newly arrived neighbors in Massachusetts eager to work and support their families?
The social determinants of health also let us know that the young families and children that are arriving need to be set up for success in a way that living in a motel will not do. They need places where they and their families can thrive, which means access to play spaces, opportunities to work and provide for their families… and a more dignified process of learning American culture by living in a community.
How do we leverage the amazing communities that have stepped in to support?
There are thousands of volunteers supporting our new neighbors in the hotels - because it is the right thing to do. And they are ready to do more! We have hundreds of people with space in their homes, that with the right structure, would welcome hosting a family and supporting them on their journey to citizenship.
Rather than seeing the arrival of our new neighbors as an economic burden, we need to see this as a gift and an opportunity.
For example, the Haitian people are deeply committed to the caring workforce, and we are currently experiencing a staffing crisis within this area.
How can we bring two complex needs together and create an amazing humanitarian solution?
We have formed a dynamic partnership through the support of The Shapiro Foundation.
Our software partners, PAIRITY, have a deep commitment to co-design and empowerment of those that are arriving. They are ready to bring their global expertise to create meaningful and sustainable matches between hosts and guests, and ensure we are measuring what matters most.
We are honored to come alongside our new neighbors as the experts on what they need.
They will be at the center of the design and implementation process.
